This study aims to answer these two questions: which constructions in Persian can be considered as garden path sentences in English? and How these structures can be categorized. The paper first, introduces the garden path sentences according to the account of these sentences in English and other languages. The concepts and models related to sentences processing are expressed. Finally, reviewing earlier research on structural ambiguity that is a kind of garden path structures, Persian samples are compared with English ones. This paper showed that Persian has structures that are coincident with these Garden path structures in English. structures with these effect in Persian can be divided into two main categories: first structures that have one acceptable reading second structures have two or more syntactic or semantic reading. In addition, the reasons for Garden path effects in Persian and English are the same. It should be mention that garden path effects appear just in writing. The paper emphasizes on prosody and punctuation role as disambiguating factor in garden path sentences.
